Behind the scenes we are steered and supported by the following people.
Our Trustees
Our team of trustees are responsible for the governance of the charity and have oversight of all decisions.
Harriet Hunt - Founder and Trustee
Harriet runs a public relations agency, Hunt Communications, and is married to an anaesthetist. She has seen how prevalent mental health issues are within the medical profession, and also the power of therapy and other complementary treatments in enabling workers to regain strength and balance. She passionately believes it is our duty to support our Doctors and all their NHS colleagues through this pandemic and beyond, and ultimately to bring these services to them for the longer-term greater good.
Sadie Reid - Founder and Trustee
Sadie runs the digital health and wellbeing magazine, Hip and Healthy and the online directory of wellness professionals, The Hip List. She has witnessed countless times the benefits that therapy and holistic therapies can bring to clients, including herself. She belives it is essential that during this time of high stress and an overwhelming workload our NHS workers have access to the support of therapists and all wellness professionals - as well as the support and gratitude from all of us who are relying on them so much at the moment.
Dr Charlie Hunt - Founder and Trustee
Charlie is an anaesthetist working at an NHS hospital. CBT therapy plus advice on diet and fitness has helped Charlie through challenging times in his career, especially when he first qualified as a Junior Doctor. Charlie believes NHS colleagues will benefit significantly from an additional means of support via Duty To Care, particularly because of the breadth and speed of the service.
David Benson - Trustee and Treasurer
David is a chartered accountant by trade and has worked at KPMG LLP for the past 13 years. He joined the trustees of Duty to Care in December 2020 to act as Treasurer. He brings a wealth of experience to the role from both his professional career working in audit and from his time working with other charities. He is also currently a trustee of the Friends of Ruskin Park.
Our Clinical Advisors
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, we seek clinical input when reviewing our activities to ensure that the needs of healthcare workers are met safely and efficiently.
Dr Nirja Joshi
Nirja is a London based GP who undertakes a mixture of clinical work and medical education. She has worked through a variety of hospital specialties through her medical training and has become acutely aware of the mental health support needed for staff in the NHS. This led Nirja to co-create The WorkWell Doctors which supports the wellbeing of NHS staff whilst at work and educating managers how to recognise the early signs of burnout in their staff. Nirja is also a dance teacher, and transfers these skills to medicine, introducing dance wellbeing breaks in our surgery and co-creating resources with the RCGP to improve physical wellbeing of GPs.
Dr Sara Khan
Sara is a former GP/Primary Care Physician, NHS Commissioner and medico-politician who is now working in the pharmaceutical industry. She has always been interested in the mental health of health care professionals and was previously a co-founder of a social enterprise that helped prevent burnout in doctors. She is thrilled to be helping Duty To Care and believes the support it offers to NHS workers will make a huge difference.
Dr Serena Rakha
Serena is a Birmingham based GP and graduated from Imperial College London medical school in 2010. Serena’s special area of interest is Lifestyle Medicine with a focus on wellness. From Serena’s own personal experience of pressures within the NHS, she started to explore different coping mechanisms such as healthier eating, exercise and meditation. Having felt the benefit of these behaviour changes, Serena believes the ever-increasing number of NHS staff having time off for ill-health can be supported, guided and empowered by the services Duty to Care offer. As a GP trainer, Serena believes it is vital to support trainees and the workforce in achieving a balance between their professional and personal life.

Hannah Laverick
Hannah has worked in mental health care operations for 8 years, working closely with practitioners and support service staff to provide top quality health care. She has seen countless times professionals place the needs of others ahead of their own, a virtue that naturally draws them to their roles as care providers. She strongly believes that it is our responsibility to prioritise their mental health and wellbeing as much as they do ours. Hannah truly believes Duty to Care will be a key player in ensuring this much-needed and deserved support is accessible to our NHS staff.
Kate coles
Kate has worked in projects and organisational change for over a decade and for the last 7 years has been focused on national healthcare guidelines, research and training delivery for healthcare workers.
